First bloom on the Jacob’s ladder (polemonium reptans) I planted in the fall! Might be my new favorite perennial. I love the foliage. We shall see how the pollinators react.

Mine has just started blooming too! I started it from seed 2 years ago and its the first bloom

  2. Definitely in my top 5. I bought two at a native plant sale last year and they looked phenomenal in bloom. I found a bunch of little seedlings all around them this year so I’m gonna make sure to take good care of them so next year I have big patch of em

These are very nice! They spread readily (but not invasively) by seed and are easy to transplant.  A great filler for a mesic woodland garden.

They attract a specialist pollinator, Andrena polemonii – I’ve noticed swarms of the tiny miner bees around our Polemonium and there seems to be more each year.  Good early season pollen plant.  I’ve combined these with Viola striata and Carex radiata to good effect.
