It’s a little closer to the house then I would like it but, no changing that now.

Tree fort coming up!

That’s a fucking great tree for kids. Build a tree house in it for them. Don’t cut it down!

I like the structure

Needs hammocks!

It’s a cool looking tree, but I would not sleep well on windy or stormy nights.
Way too close for my comfort
spum_wizzard
I might trim any bits that would cause any severe damage to my roof/fence if a strong wind rolls through, otherwise I would leave it!

This looks like it is waiting for a tree house!
RunDoughBoyRun
Remarkably similar to the tree we had which was growing into our deck and keeping moisture close to our home.
MY opinion (and what we did) is to remove the tree and replace the deck with pavers.
Good luck with whatever you decide, do what makes you happy.

Nearly sixty and I would fly up that motherfucker.
Gorgeous.
Leave it alone.

My opinion won’t help you. I would end up asking others opinions on Reddit as well lol.
On one hand it’s a beautiful tree. On the other hand it’s definitely aged, massive (weight), and close to the house/in the deck.
That’s a tough one. Maybe a compromise? Cut the branches on one side and mold the deck around the tree to give it space?

Leaning away from the house, unless you know it’s Messing with the foundations, the tree gods and people will never forgive you….

Have it assessed by an arborist, not a tree cutting company, and take their recommendations. Maybe just needs a crown reduction, maybe it needs nothing at all… nothing at all…

i’d cry if i had this tree fr what a good tree

Personally I would look into removing it. Way too close to the house. RIP your roof, gutters, and say hello to critters living in your attic.

What an interesting gorgeous old Tree. No I certainly would not cut it down and I wouldn’t trim it anymore than it’s been trimmed. I think part of its charm is its branches.

Get a chainsaw, cut it when nobody is looking. That’s my advice.

Hire an arborist to access its health / risk / what’s the best step forward. I am planning to do something similar for a large tree next to my home.

Woohoo! The tree is sturdy enough for a treehouse! 🌳

Beautiful tree. And uncomfortably close to your house.
Unfair_You_1769
Great tree, too bad it isn’t like 40ft from the house. I would remove it out of fear of termites and damage to the house.
Then_Version9768
Remove that tree. If it were in the middle of the yard, it would be different, but that close to the house it’s a problem waiting to happen.

What an awesome tree! 😃🫶💚🥳🥳🥳
Maybe trim parts that look a little weaker and older.
