A garden centre in Nottinghamshire was the standout winner beating 18 others at an awards evening.
Notcutts Wheatcroft Garden Centre, off Landmere Lane, in Edwalton, scooped the prize for best restaurant. Breakfast, lunches, snacks and afternoon tea are served in the Street Kitchen.
The restaurant was given a makeover, reinventing a satisfactory but rather ordinary cafe, into the trendy Street Kitchen in 2015. The same year it went on to bag best design in a retail space at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in London.
In another category staff member Gaynor Tilford-Baker won the ‘Passion, Inspiration and Expertise Award’ for her exceptional kindness and strong rapport with customers and their pets.
Two others workers were also awarded for their long-service. Rachel Ruff is celebrating 40 years and Debra Arnold has worked at the garden centre for 25 years.
The ‘Frontline Hero Award’ was presented to Sean O’Grady, voted for by his colleagues for consistently contributing above and beyond.

The accolades were presented at Notcutts annual conference and awards event, that brought together more than 100 employees from 19 garden centres and 18 industry sponsors, at Chesford Grange in Warwickshire.
Sixteen award categories were presented by Caroline Notcutt, vice chairman, and Andrew Notcutt, family shareholder, who are both great-grandchildren of founder Roger Crompton Notcutt.
Jon Wilson, general manager at Notcutts Wheatcroft, said: “We are so proud to be recognised as a standout winner across the Notcutts group this year. It is a fantastic reflection of the dedication and passion our whole team brings every day, delivering a high-quality experience to our Nottinghamshire community.
“We’re excited to keep building on this momentum and to continue offering an inspiring destination for gardeners and families locally.”
Nick Burrows, CEO, Notcutts, said: “Our annual awards are an uplifting and inspiring evening for all involved. I’m incredibly proud to recognise the exceptional customer service, passion and innovation shown by our teams across our garden centres, restaurants and support office.
