A historic landmark is launching free community events, inviting book lovers, gardeners and nature enthusiasts to take part.

The April programme at Belvoir Castle, near Grantham, includes gardening clubs, a monthly book club and woodland walks through the estate grounds.

Belvoir said the initiative aims to bring the community together and showcase the estate. Tickets are free but places must be booked through the website.

Led by estate manager David Crossland, the woodland walks will start at the Belvoir Retail Village and explore the grounds’ wildlife, heritage and landscape.

They will take place at 11am on Wednesday, April 8 and 15.

Hosted by expert gardener Tom Webster, the gardening club will welcome experienced gardeners and newcomers at 11am on Thursday, April 9 and 16 at the Belvoir Bistro.

Belvoir’s book club starts on Tuesday (April 7) and will then meet on the first Tuesday of each month.

Hosted by chaplain Eddie Wynn, sessions at the Belvoir Bistro will include discussion and refreshments.

Eleanor Melville, marketing manager at Belvoir Castle, said the estate had seen growing interest in events over the past year and wanted to offer more opportunities for the community to come together.

“We wanted to offer the local community even more opportunities to get together and experience all the different things Belvoir has to offer,” she said.

She said spring was a particularly special time in the grounds and gardens.

“We’re delighted to welcome the local community to join our passionate team to enjoy the grounds and gardens or maybe discover their new favourite book.”
