If you want big, beautiful basil harvests this summer—start here. 🌿Want my step-by-step basil growing guide? When basil is just 6″ tall, snip the middle stem right above the second set of leaves. That one cut will double your stems and kickstart a bushier plant. Keep going as it grows, and you’ll be harvesting handfuls of fragrant basil in no time.
Eventually, you can let it flower for the pollinators—or keep pruning for an endless supply.

  1. Glad to know. Will do now.
We have a big south/sun window during winter. All my herbs in pots sit there….and give their wonderful leaves…..all winter long.

  2. Thank you for this helpful advice. I just trimmed my basil plants!

I’m not on any other social media sites so this is the only place I’ve seen you. Could I ask you for some advice on growing dill in our climate? I live in the town next door to you so I’m really excited to learn from you.

  3. Any tips for indoor potted sweet basil? It's so cool how they double every time you take some off it seems. I need to replant into bigger pots definitely

  5. I'm not an expert like you are Angela but I can testify that basil THRIVES in the desert. I don't have basil plants, I have basil shrubs ❤

  6. I don’t prune basil at all. The plants get huge. Very huge. I always let it flower for the bees. 🐝 they love ❤️ basil. It seems to make them drunk like.
