As planting season gets underway, gardeners in Onslow County will have a chance to stock up on vegetables, herbs, and other plants at the Master Gardeners of Onslow County’s annual Spring Garden Festival next month.

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. until noon at 4024 Richlands Highway in Jacksonville, next to the farmers market.

The Master Gardeners are hosting the event in partnership with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension and NC State.

Carole Town, a Master Gardener, said shoppers can expect a wide selection of edible plants. “We will have a lot of vegetables. We’re gonna have tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, a lot of peppers – lunchbox peppers as well as hot peppers. We’re gonna have herbs, so we’ll have rosemary, basil, chives, things like that.”

Organizers said the sale will also include plants that grow well in the area, along with fig trees and other trees.
