My recipe has been working consistently for months until I got these low-quality tree trimmings. Ive taken multiple approaches to working with them, including altering layering, manure ratios, watering schedule. These trimming just don’t break down, which would be fine if I was doing this for myself, but I’m handling a small school site that is running out of space because my timeline has slowed tremendously due to the resistance of these leaves.

Has anyone encountered anything like this before/found any solutions? Thank you!

Needs more nitrogen. Seems your old ones came in greener than these. Pee on em.

You need more nitrogen. You have all carboniferous material, aka wood, you need nitrogenous material, coffee grounds are the easiest to source. Go to any coffee shop with a 5 gallon bucket and ask if you can have their spent grounds. They may have some already or allow you to come back at close to pick up. Starbucks gives theirs away when asked because that is less heavy trash they have to pay to be removed.

Lawn clippings are another great nitrogen source.

Add as much as you can source, about 30-40% volume of the current pile and mix throughout.
