I have been trying unsuccessfully to propagate one of my violets for probably a year… over a dozen attempts. In water, in soil, rooting hormone, blah blah blah. Nothing ever took.
Back in September I planted a leaf directly into soil as a "what the hell" kind of thing and just let it sit. Watered occasionally. I wasn't sure if it rooted or not, but the leaf never died off completely. I just cut off the crunchy bits and left it alone. But nothing happened.
Today, I was ready to do a post-mortem. Finally pulled the leaf out of the soil and…roots? And better yet….buds???
I quickly refreshed the soil, repotted, and added it to the little greenhouse the rest of my violets live in by the windowsill. Anything special I need to do or do I just let this little guy do his thing now?
