  1. I was looking at Lowe's boxed plants the other day and I pulled up your app to compare prices for my location and you were less expensive than all but 1 plant. And your price on that one plant was only higher by a few bucks. And Lowe's were not organic as far as I could tell, non GMO was listed, but not organic. Your stuff is worth more just for those facts alone. Judging by what I've bought from you before, I am certain that your plants are better quality as well!

  2. Being a senior on a budget …who isn’t …I enjoy going to farmers market when by plants vegetables flowers even meat. No thanks for big box plants. Thanks you sharing.

  3. –P.S. {continued from my other comment} Adding a warning for protection incase your unfamiliar: Elderberry leaves, roots, and stems, & berries are toxic to the touch, it's good to wear gloves and the juice from the berries can be used only after they are boiled for at least 20 to 30 min. There are a couple varieties it is said that 'can' be eaten 'raw', but I don't chance it I only boil them for syrup or jelly.

  4. I don't buy from big box stores anymore since the last video you did on this. You are the man Luke thank you so much for all you do for us!

  5. Luke, I am ashamed to say that I fell for these boxed blackberries this year at my local Sam's. When I planted them, 3/4 were dead and had no roots. I even scratched them off and they were brown inside. I literally spent $25 dollars for sticks. The 4th one had some minimal growth, but after planting, failed hard. I immediately went to your website since I love your seeds. You offered way more varieties, for the same price!! Beautiful blackberry plugs arrived at my door step within days. Definitely won't make that mistake again. Just wanted to say thank you! This video is so informational and very much needed, even for somewhat experienced gardeners like me.

  6. Thank you for this! I have beating myself up over Ozark Beauty strawberries that I bought from a big box store that I keep replanting because they aren’t healthy! I just ordered new ones from an Etsy shop that has good reviews. We have been trying to grow strawberries for 3 summers with no luck. I finally came to the conclusion that the starts I keep buying may be the problem and you confirmed it! I also ordered 3 Caroline raspberries starts from the same Etsy shop!

  7. Went to a garden show on Sunday came home with two raspberry canes little farther ahead than you. I did get them in the ground. They had buds on them, but I have 5 gallon buckets sitting along side of them that if we get a cold night, I can go out and put over them to protect them from a frost. Hoping they do well the roots look good. The plants look good one’s a traditional ones a yellow variety.

  8. Got some roses, blueberries, and pawpaw's from Fast Growing Trees and everything was delivered in dry loose soil – basically bare root. Everything died within a week despite getting in the ground within 2 hours of drop off.

White Flower Farms and Cummins Nursery delivered great shrubs and fruit trees this year though.

  9. So here is another question are reputable online nurseries better??? Some of these nurseries also supply the big box stores.

That said I have some small big box bushes that are doing fine (they may be hit or miss but they do tend to be cheaper) … I tend to stay away from things that are supposed to be 'dormant'. I need to see buds and growth.

I buy from a mix of local nurseries, native nurseries, big box and online.

I also got an inexpensive cold frame from Lidl last year perfect for storing items until they are ready to plant. Great for places like Michigan.

  10. I have bought these as well. I’ve found waiting until the garden center opens is best. Closer to the correct time for planting!

  11. This is why we need international content on stuff like this! People literally assume that because it’s been sold now it’s appropriate to the time and place! So many places are just happy to sell anything anyone will buy-with not so much as a proper variety showing so you can look it up! And guarantee? Not a chance! Some places allow you to personally order the plants you want and pick them up day of when the truck comes in, which is much better! Your information on the concepts behind dormancy and shipping regulations is golden-and the fact that you can guarantee your product is a tremendous value! You know that a company believes in their product when they are willing to guarantee something that has so much potential for “user error.” Love you, Luke! You’re doing great work!
