Good job girl wish I was your age I just turned 71 not 17 lol gardening ainโt so easy and fun anymore. Love my tree and flowers though hubby helps out a lot he is 71 too he does most of the weeding. I have to push myself . Anxious to see my cherry tree bloom and my butterfly magnolias to bloom . Love them huge scented yellow blooms absolutely gorgeous.
Long time viewer since your townhouse days. Just wondering if itโs a good idea to take leaves off plants coming up? Mine are all still covered with leaves and things are poping up through the leaves.
Maintenance videos are so helpful. Learning what to do and whenโ
I need one of those little, flexible rakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys need to make and sell them as so many people would enjoy them, also.
I think you could use another pair of hands, when Bethany is no longer helping๐.Even though Paul helps a lot, I think Laura is running all over the place. The property is big, you need help.โค
You have worked hard that is why it is done โค๐
You will have some amazing blueberries this year! My favorite! The time and attention you give your property is amazing. And where was Samanthaโs helmet?
Your garlic looks amazing!
Mine must have had a rough winter, I planted in Nov and the beginning of winter was milder than usual, barely hitting freezing Temps so they grew a few inches. But then at the second half of the season we got nailed with teen degrees and snow for nearly a month. I think they may have been sacrificed to the garlic gods this year
Laura maybe you should use a, dare I say, plastic pot for the blueberries. It will help retain the moisture more. And may help their roots from drying out as much
Great job today. West side looks fantastic. You are such a hardworking person and keep your gardens so happyโฆfor them and you and definitely for us. Thanks for sharing your gardens and family with us ๐ป๐๐๐๐โค๏ธ๐ธ๐
I have been watching you almost from the beginning and I have learned so much! Always look forward to your videos. Could you please do an evergreen tour of your property, before everything else starts leafing out? I have a couple of bare acres of what use to be a pasture and I would like to plant it up with trees. I need ideas! Especially, fast growing because I'm old. Ha! I am in the same zone as you are in.
Hi Laura and Aaron. Thank you so much for putting the Celsius temperature on screen. It really helps to understand your temperatures.
Just love seeing Russell around and of course Douglas. Love seeing the clean up. Makes everything look so tidy. Looking forward to seeing all the fresh growth
Hi Laura, I was just wondering what it you move the roses to the other side of the pathway right beside the black benches on either side.
Quick question about the rake that you used in this video and have in many others. Are the teeth/prongs on the end straight or curl over a bit like a normal rake? Sorry I can't think of the name for the life of me right now and I know as soon as someone says it I'm going to be like yeah that's it ๐ I only ask cos yours looks like it doesn't collect any gravel or stones which is why it looks like it works like a straw broom with straight but flexible to only target the leaves and other cuttings that are in the garden beds (I really hope that this is making sense lol ๐)
Hi Laura i can't sleep if i don't see your garden and your hard work love you
๐๐๐ป๐๐ป
Yay!! Shopping next week! They are going to get rain so we get to go antiquing! Yay ๐๐ โคโคโค
Who is Laura trying to kid?!? Of course those seeds will germinate!!! She has the GREENEST thumb in the world. ๐ฅฐ
Hi Laura, I had some difficulty with my blueberries and high ph soil and I had watched a video of a gentleman that is a blueberry farmer. He suggested using peat moss when planting or topping your pots. Hope that helps, it really helped mine last season I dug around the roots and topped with the peat moss. Some just require more cold hours/few more years then they will go crazy with growth. Blueberries can be complicated. ๐
Thankyou, Laura for reviewing the reasons why and the how for pruning all the plants…!! Such a help to then go out feeling like I am good top go prune here in PA. I want one of those lovely NEW pop up bags.. Once you do as much clean up in amongst all the plants coming up can you use the blower to tidy what you didn't get by hand??
ALSO just noticed gardengal6557 's comments..I remember you telling us about why you were "taking some things and leaving others" in the miniature garden "maybe a quarter acre?(probably less!) when you were getting ready to move from your little house,,,and all the teaching behind that tiny wooden table that you did..Great memories!!
Good morning Laura! This was a perfectly timed video! Question- I am currently soaking nasturtium seeds. The package says soak for 12 hours, however I forgot about them and itโs been 3 days. Should I toss these and start over? Also, my Elberta Peach tree sunk in its pot and is sitting very low. Iโm in zone 9b and it has pushed blooms and leaves already. Is it too late to raise it up now? When is a good time? Thank you so much!! โค
Hi Laura, grew sweet peas for the first time. I let them soak in water and forgot about them, two days later they had sprouted in the water and I just popped them in potting soil. I have beautiful strong seedling now!
Does anyone know the name of that rake???? I have asked for YEARS with no response. Thanks!
Dear Laura Everything is waking up and Looking Delicious! โค I have been watching for years before Benjamin was born before you moved into the Big house ๐ Gardening has been a huge part of my life since I was a child with my parents. Thanks I look forward to starting out each day with you Guys,I really have gotten much joy out of watching your Garden and Family Grow over the years Time sure seems to fly's bye.Question; have you ever given a thought about an English garden in the naked spot where that relentless sweet pea that comes backwards year after year? ๐ซถ๐ชด๐ฆ๐ฆ๐
Poor Russell, all he wanted was to work on his suntan and Mom kept making him move ๐
What a great feeling to have all the garden clean up done!! You mentioned that you left the dahlias in the ground last fall. Have you had a chance to check and see if any have survived the winter because it was so mild?
Hi Laura, when you were talking about the first peony at about 12:15 of transcript, do you remember where you got the peony cage/holder?
Button bush is wonderful and would look beautiful in a big open garden space๐
Good morning!! I wonder if the reason Uโve put this side off is because there r plants U need to remove!!๐
Russell.. your necessary โgarden companion/protector ๐โค๏ธ
Maybe that space was let go til last because it was less public as the rest of the gardens ??
Samantha Grace flying by in the background… "WOO!!! WOO! THAT WAS FUN!" ๐๐๐
I'm afraid to even know what she considered that fun! ๐
Oh geesh… I see the answer now! ๐
What a beautiful day! Love seeing kids (and Aaron & Paul) out enjoying the outdoors. And Russell helping out in the garden. I'm trying sweet pea seeds for the first time this year. So excited to see them in full bloom!
YOU ARE ON A ROLL!
This summer is going to be glorious in your garden!โค

Take it from me, I live in the
Birch Blueberry Belt.
Plant your blueberries underneath evergreens and birches, you'll get a better yield.
May I ask how large your blueberry containers are? I recently purchased a couple of peach sorbet blueberry plants to add to our collection and will be potting them too ๐
I love these longer videos!
I can tell you one major mistake with your blueberries you are doing….you need wide, not deep, pots as the roots like to spread out near the surface. By putting in two together, you disturb and crowd the roots. Also, you should check your soil pH each year. The best mix is Peat moss, bark fines, and compost with coarse perlite for good drainage. Ofcourse, using soil acidifier helps as well. I use very large, wide, ceramic pots rather than Terra cotta. I also have some in raised beds. All 17 of my plants do well, with part shade. In your harsh climate, I would recommend some afternoon shade. I also mulch all my pots with small bark.Good luck!
After reading the cautions on the gnatrol I ordered from you I canโt believe you didnโt have gloves on when you planted the sweetpeas.

Hey! Why didnโt I think of holding my container between my legs 50 years ago instead of struggling holding it upright with one hand while I tried picking up and stuffing it with the other! Great idea.
