



I'm not even sure of the species, limbs are getting long , in igo ca where we get the very occasional skiff of snow. Last time we did we lost a significant branch. Not sure how to go about relieving some pressure without sacrificing the shape.

Go for 1 cut, right near ground level. We call it the basal prune

Looks like a Bradford Pear to me, if so the whole tree should go ASAP. Some states even offer bounties for their removal. Does it have smelly white flowers in spring?
