Hi! this plant is growing in place of a previously dead plant, I have peonies growing in a different spot in our yard but this plant has different colors and leaves! I was wondering if anyone may know what this plant is?

Not a peony. It looks like whatever died back is coming up. Kinda looks like a hydrangea.
