There is something compelling about stepping through a garden gate and discovering a world designed and planted by a passionate gardener on the other side. That was the premise at the heart of a new series, Greatest Gardens, which I filmed in the north of Ireland last summer and which is now being broadcast on BBC Northern Ireland.
The gardening legend Carol Klein and I travelled the length and breadth of Northern Ireland in search of gardens that do more than simply please the eye – they tell a story.
