Still living in Western NY. These are mostly under one of our larger trees, and there are a handful of fairly small clumps. I think they are some kind of violet, but hoping someone can narrow down if it's native to my area or not and if it's likely to be fine as a general ground cover in that area (I don't expect to get a whole lot else to grow directly under the tree where it is and these are pretty, so it'd currently be competing with whatever limited grass there is and whatever other random wild plants there are). I don't super care if it "takes over" that area if it's native, but would want to replace/ contain if it's invasive and a problem spreader.
