Hello all, I am in the Florida panhandle and I’ve noticed these berries all over my yard. Looks like they grow from a vine and are darkening from green to red to black/purple. Are these southern dewberries? Also I assume they are edible but unsure so I have not tried.

It’s definitely a Rubus species, though I’m not sure which one. Probably a blackberry. Dewberry fruit and leaves tend to be smaller. In any case, these aren’t ripe yet. Yes, the fruit of all Rubus species is edible.

I want to say it’s either Rubus cuneifolius, Rubus trivialis or Rubus argutus based on location. But the foliage isn’t matching photos I’m seeing for any of them super well. Based on common name… maybe it’s the argutus… sawtooth blackberries? I dunno
