I know most guides say that you should only propagate leaves that are strong, and healthy etc etc… but in my experience, any leaf ever can propagate in the right conditions. I've been recently experimenting with propagating small leaves in perlite. The first photo is actually a leaflet from a bloomstalk ! And the last leaf was the tiniest one I've ever propagated, and it even made a small plantlet within exactly 27 days 😆. Anyway i just wanted to post this to prove that you really don't need a specific leaf size to propagate violets, anything works 🧚🏻‍♂️🌱

I recently potted up Midget Memories babies. I was amazed at how well they’d all grown. They were in soil/perlite and wick watered but wow! I now have probably more than I know what to do with. Provided I don’t unalived any of them😅

Edit: and of course a couple of leaves fell off while I was repotting so I’ve got more starting 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was always very proper about leaves I propagate. Then my dog chew one of my violets. I was beyond annoyed. My partner put the mangled leaves in soil and told me to wait and see. I was very ready to teach him a lesson but lo and behold now I have a ton of babies from all those leaves. Mostly the bottom layer ones that broke from the fall, some chewed up a little – all grew. The most offensive bit was that he didn’t even plant them properly. Just put them into a large pot where a palm tree live and they all decided it was acceptable
