A burst of spring color is set to fill the Art Museum of Southeast Texas as the Magnolia Garden Club hosts its (MOD)ern Musings Flower Show, featuring judged floral designs, botanical arts and hundreds of horticulture entries grown in local yards and gardens.

The show, staged every two years, will include floral design displays, cut flowers and potted plants, along with categories in botanical arts. Organizers said visitors will also be able to see multiple examples of botanical arts photography. One example highlighted ahead of the show was a bird artwork made entirely from organic material.

The exhibits will be judged tomorrow morning, with ribbons placed before the public viewing begins. The show opens to the public from 1 to 4 tomorrow afternoon.

The show continues Wednesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year’s theme is contemporary mid-century modern, and the show is titled Modern Musings. As part of the event, Rob Clark, described as a well-known Beaumont architect, is scheduled to give a free public lecture on mid-century modern in Beaumont at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the art museum.

Admission to the flower show and the lecture is free and open to the public.

More information, including hours, is available at MagnoliaGardenclub.com. Organizers also noted the show will be presented alongside artwork currently on display at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.

The Magnolia Garden Club also highlighted its broader community involvement, including being “responsible for building cattail marsh, education center and and getting over to the city,” and said the flower show is intended to help the public see what can be grown locally and what can be created through floral design, botanical arts and photography. The show also includes a conservation exhibit with a theme focused on Beaumont and how it has changed over the years.

The club said it has membership opportunities and noted there are multiple garden clubs across Beaumont for those interested in joining.
