Can anyone share their container gardens that feature dahlias for inspo!? I have very limited space and plan to use some as deck decor. Tried to choose slightly smaller varieties. Is there a way to keep height in control while still getting prolific blooms? Picture of my current start up (for which I dove head first and have no idea what I am doing) in 5a and wanted early blooms. Also- I didn’t know to split the tubers before planting. Will they all be okay in a pot together?

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

Check out chicago gardener on youtube. She grows Dahlias in containers on her rooftop deck. Also, if you’re new to Dahlias I think you made the right call not splitting this year. It can be pretty easy to split in a way that results in 0 viable plants. (I learned this the hard way).

I never took any pics of my Dahlias in their containers last year, but I did get some pics of a few bouquets I made. I grew these Dahlias in my zone 7b rooftop container garden. 🌸🥰
