First time trying this out. It was about 4 hours old at the time of this photo.
Been waiting for the weather to get better in hopes of capturing more life. I found 2 plants that were also living in and under the water. See how this goes, any gotchas you wish you knew when you did your first one? Cheers!
My oldest ecosphere is 5 years old now and I wish I had known more about the importance of plants and how they work in a jar, and the difference between rooted plants and algae. Not all plants are suitable for a jar. Especially not the ones that grow out of the water, at the side of the water or were freshly submerged by rain and rising water levels.
Therefore I’m most curious about what kind of plant you managed to find there :). Not many plants found in the wild are suitable and have more needs than a jar can provide.
The ratio looks good, but you could add a bit more water up to where the glass starts to curve…not over the curve, cuz u want to keep the water surface as wide as possible.
