Welcome to my full-sun front yard garden tour for the month of March! My Carolina Garden is in coastal NC zone 8B. I have lots of flowers and plants, both new and existing, and many flowerbeds to share with you. I have a Red Bud tree in bloom, I have geraniums and Superbells that are ready to get into the ground as the temps warm up, and I have gorgeous Dianthus that comes back reliably for me here each year.
I love perennials as the main flowers in my garden, but I am adding in annuals for additional pops of color and rich texture.
My name is Nicole Roggeman, and if you enjoy real-life gardening and gathering new garden inspiration, I invite you to subscribe to my channel and follow along on my gardening journey.

hi nicole, garden looks beautiful. you have a lot of things coming up. the red bud tree looks amazing. thanks for sharing. hope you have a great day!
Hi Nicole 🌺. You've chosen such beautiful flowers and colors for your garden! I hope to find this lovely color of phlox. You could add blue lobelia in front of the red geranium; it's an amazing plant with its sky blue and deep blue hues. I also planted Atlantis Lilac Bicolo and salvias and pink daisy and Supertunias Superbena Sparklink 'Rose' as well as the red and tuscany blue variety, and stockflowers, deep blue lobelia, yellow lilies, blue hydrangeas, snapdragons, dahlias, dianthus, golden beauty rose and others. Have a wonderful day! 🌺🌻🌷🌻🌺
Thank you for the video! I’m struggling with my front yard, in full punishing south facing sun in SC. It seems everything I love can’t handle heat. Surprised to see a hydrangea (my fave). We’re still looking at the 3 sad bushes the builder put in 4 years ago 😂 Definitely looking into some of these varieties and I’m thinking my first step is to extend it out like you did to give room for some layering. Looking forward to watching things grow on your channel!
Oh heavens, let me just start by saying your title hit me with such radiant, full sun energy that I had to sit myself down and whisper “Luise, brace yourself, this creator is about to give you a spiritual photosynthesis you were not prepared for” because wow, a Full Sun Front Yard Garden Tour in March in Carolina Zone 8B feels like the botanical equivalent of someone casually announcing they’ve already achieved their summer goals while I’m still arguing with my houseplants about basic survival. Watching you stroll through that sun soaked garden reminded me of the time I tried to give my front yard a makeover and ended up planting three perennials, one annual, and what I later discovered was a rogue weed I had been nurturing like a beloved child. Oh dear, the emotional attachment. And as you pointed out each plant with that calm, confident voice, I swear I felt my inner self go “Luise, take notes, this is what productivity looks like when you’re not spiraling over whether your mulch is judging you.” Honestly, the way you communicate with your garden made me rethink my entire approach to daily tasks because if you can manage a full sun yard with that much grace, then surely I can manage my inbox without whispering “why are you like this” at every unread message. At one point I even caught myself cheering for a blooming shrub like it was competing in a beauty pageant, whispering “yes, darling, show them your petals.” Whew, what a journey. You’ve inspired me, humbled me, and made me laugh at my own chaotic gardening attempts all at once, which is exactly the kind of sunny emotional fertilizer I needed today.
It's always fun to see the plants coming up or budding up getting ready to put on a show 🙂 I think my favorite spot for right now is the dianthus around the colorful pot, I'm a sucker for dianthus. Your dusty miller look amazing. We had a late frost, and a lot of the tree buds got zapped. My redbud went straight to leaves, but so did all the others. The early blooming magnolias skipped flowering this year too. All the Azealia's and even the wisteria were in full bloom and got zapped. We just skipped over most of the spring blooms :/
Love your video, thanks for sharing! I’m working with my mom’s garden and while she was alive, it was gorgeous. I’m struggling with keeping the weeds out. So working towards it one bed at a time. I love red bud trees and I’ve recently fallen in love with Iris. She has them scattered in our backyard and they’re in bed of weed. I want to dig them up and clump them together cause can you imagine how that would look beautiful. OK, I will stop. I’m rambling. I just love your videos. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Absolutrly beautiful Nicole!!! Your garden already has so much color!!! 💙💚💛🧡💜Liz
You have inspired me so much! I love your gardens thank you for always naming the plants! I am in zone 8b also.
Going to be gorgeous when everything comes alive! I really like the layout of your garden beds. I repotted my geraniums I overwintered & potted up new ones I bought. I’ve been leaving them out because we have had only lows of 50’s since I started potting things up. I’m prepared to cover them if it gets into the 40’s…like you said “it’s still March.”
Ps thanks for showing the entire garden from afar. I love seeing the big picture❤
That orange tree, produces the most tart oranges ever, I think it beats lemons or limes any day! You can create jams with it if you are not fond of tart oranges 😊
Good afternoon The yards comeing to life there my banana trees and cannas are shooting up Just relaxing from a day of work I’m just watching the yard to see where more things are going to grow ❤ Mike zone 8a north Alabama
I spent most of the day in the garden, Nicole. Did some transplanting and planting.
Hi Nicole, great choices for the million bells! Love the double color too! My garden is slowly coming to life. My bleeding heart popped out of the ground the other day and it is already 5 inches tall ❤
