i only bought these in December! at least i have a lot of starts! do i have to leave these on the potato? or can i pull them off like sweet potato slips? it looks like some clumps have roots forming.

You can break off whatever sticks above ground. I like to cut large potatoes in half but they only need one “eye” to grow into a potato plant. If you want to keep them from growing like this in the future set potatoes in a dimly lit but not completely dark location so they don’t think they are underground.
