Long time lurker, first time poster. Just wanted to say you all have given me an unhealthy level of confidence to attempt my first garden this year. I’ve spent embarrassing amounts of time reading everyone’s tips and tricks, and today my dirt was delivered to fill the beds 😍
We’ve had this lot behind our garage that has kind of been a dumping ground for building materials for the last five years, but we were able to use most of our remnants to pull together this space and I can’t wait to see what doesn’t die!

Very nice! I especially like the deep color of the stain on the raised beds.

Looks great. What’s on the pallet?

This is what I’m attempting – if anything looks glaringly concerning let me know! We’re in MN so nothing in the ground yet
Depending on your area if you do beds in the future or need lots of compost I’d check your local landscaping suppliers and chip yards. Sometimes they will be cheaper than the bagged stuff and is almost always better quality because they make it on site often.
Also if you’re looking to safe money filling beds but don’t have logs some landfills will chip yard waste and let you take if for free. I did that with my about 3 ft tall beds I built on concrete, id recommend picking them up early though so if wherever they came from had sprayed it has a good year or so to set and lose all that nasty stuff. When I got my chipped yard waste from the landfill it was steaming because they were composting a great way to get some beds started!
Your set-up looks great I also went with darker stains on my beds. Happy growing!
