Found what looked like a load of mulch next to my dalek bin. A rat seems to have got in at the bottom, dug out a lot of the woody material and made itself at home. I guess I'll need to find a way to make him as unwelcome as possible. Annoying. I feel like I'm trespassing on their land these days, there are so many around.
I haven't put any delicious scraps on there or anything, I think it just liked the warm, cosy environment.

They’re not picky eaters. Just about anything could be tasty to them, including bugs drawn to the pile, or the larvae hatched in it.

It could also be the warmth. It’s early spring, so they’re active but it’s still cool enough for them to seek warmth.
