I am getting an outdoor firepit an am not sure if to go with floating or solid seating. I like the look of the solid seating but the person building the firepit mentioned that the floating bench is more popular and is more convenient for seating as you have a place to put your feet. Any suggestions? Those of you who have one? Thanks in advance 😊

Solid for the long run, just make sure they don’t pool water. Floating looks great, but wood only lasts so long before it needs to be replaced. You could do floating with concrete instead of wood, or you could slope the drop so your feet can go back a little
Solid can have a cut back for feet without any significant design change. Solid is much more brutalist and uncomfortable without cushions or something to soften the seat. I went for floating, but it is getting older and shows it. If the floating is cheaper, think of it as more temporary and you will refresh it in 5-10 years to keep up with styles. If going solid, think of how to make it comfortable.
Is this a gas or wood fire pit? Fixed seating around a wood fire pit is terrible
