Home composting is one of the best things you can do for your garden: to reduce food waste, make gardening cheaper, and help your plants thrive.

The hot bin is one of three composting solutions I have in the garden to make as much of the good stuff as possible. I also have a conventional plastic composter, an a bokashi bin which breaks down food waste and creates me a nutritious plant feed (the hot bin also creates a feed for me!). There’s a solution for all spaces.

I first started composting about 10 years ago and I’ve learnt so much in that time! And watching my food scraps and garden waste (things I would otherwise dispose of!) turn into something incredible I can use in the garden never grows old!

Homegrown compost can:

πŸ₯” Reduce food waste
πŸ’° Free, nutrient-heavy garden gold
πŸ’§ Lock in soil moisture
πŸͺ± Improve soil structure
πŸš€ Supercharge plant growth naturally
♻️ Close the food loop

Basically you are regenerating your soil and creating NEW food and flowers from all the other ones you put into the compost bin! Isn’t that amazing?! 🀩

And I actually really do get so much joy from the whole process.

Do you compost? Is composting on your garden plans for 2026? πŸ—“οΈ

  1. Ive seen ppl put one in their green houses in the winter to keep growing…love your accent (to me from boston usa)

  2. I'd love for my residential block to have a compost bin. But there would be enough of my neighbours careless enough to throw meat and fish waste and ruin it. πŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ
