Step inside two of Nara’s most beautiful Japanese gardens and experience their quiet atmosphere through natural sounds. This peaceful walk takes you through Yoshikien Garden and Isuien Garden (both designed for slowing down and appreciating nature) in Nara, Japan .

Yoshikien Garden features three distinct landscapes: a moss garden, a pond garden, and a traditional tea garden. Just next door, Isuien Garden dates back to the Edo period and is famous for its use of “borrowed scenery,” where the surrounding mountains and even the roof of Todai-ji Temple become part of the garden’s design. Both gardens reflect an important idea in Japanese culture: that beauty is often found in stillness and careful attention to the natural world.

Whether you’re looking for relaxation, meditation, study ambience, or simply a quiet moment of virtual travel, we hope this peaceful walk through Nara’s gardens brings you a sense of calm.

  1. We typically do travel vlogs of our adventures so hopefully you find this walkthrough helpful in case you're considering visiting. We actually did a lot more sitting, watching, and talking but didn't want to record those moments. And there are plenty of places to do just that and take in the surroundings!
