


Looking for suggestions for planting in this area. The bed was probably last touched in 2009 when the units were built. This photo is midday so not a lot of sunshine.
Have a few pots to go along the wall. Needs to be low maintenance as I can only get up there via a ladder, but hosing is not an issue. Was hoping for some height and colour.

I successfully grew heliconias in a similar place to yours. You will have to remove dead fronds and cut down spent plants that have flowered, at worst twice a year. They are available at different heights and flowering times, and the spectacular flowers last a long while (mine lasted from late Nov to late Feb). Mine were undemanding of water (only watered them during the last drought) once established, but they were very well mulched.
You could do both and it would look pretty good 👍
