In this episode, we focus on garden pathways, the most overlooked part of a functional garden. With the garden beds built and structures going up, the @epicgardening team, Home Depot and creators like Jacques of @jacquesinthegarden, Chia-Ming of @coastalhomestead, Graylen of @urbangardeningwithgray and Erin of @TheImpatientGardener turn their attention to how people actually move through the space. Paths define flow, improve accessibility, protect soil, and make the garden easier to work in every day.

With help from Home Depot, we gather mulch, pavers, and tools to build simple, flexible pathways that look great and support long-term soil health. Whether you’re just starting out or refining an established garden, this episode shows why paths should never be an afterthought.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
• How to design garden pathways that improve flow
• Why mulch is one of the best beginner path materials
• Proper spacing for stepping stone paths
• Using burlap as a natural weed barrier
• How paths help retain moisture and reduce weeds
• Defining spaces with containers and planting
• How Home Depot simplifies garden supply runs

Garden paths don’t need to be expensive or complicated, but they change how your space feels and functions.

How to Build Simple Garden Pathways | From Scratch with @epicgardening (Episode 4)

  1. Take me back to Maine!!! Pathways are so important, but overlooked in garden design. So happy with how they came out ❤️ go team!!!

  2. Minnesota grows rocks, too. When I was a kid, we got paid to " pick rocks" in farmer's fields before they plowed. It was a horrible job. 😂

  3. it it truly reprehensible to see you partnering with Home Depot when they’ve been instrumental to aiding ICE in their abuse and assault on immigrant communities, POC, and innocent asylum seekers. absolute shame on you kevin and the entire epic gardening team.

  4. NO THESE ARE WIGGLY, have to walk a straight path when your hands are full. Get practical first, then fancy

  5. It's really lovely seeing some of my favourite gardeners working together in such a beautiful location!

  6. Look at all those pretty people working their behinds off. 😂 For real though, it's awesome to see all of you sharing such comradery during such hard work.

  7. 3:29 In Michigan, you can sometimes unearth boulders with small colorful pieces in them. They're called Puddingstone(s) and they are an interesting addition to any rock collection. The ones you've probably seen are tiny but I've seen some as big as my torso or head. I would recommend getting some help from a friend who has a tractor with a backhoe attachment. It can save you a lot of time and energy.

  8. Use your local sources first. These big box stores are killing small businesses not to mention home depot is happily allowing ICE to kidnap, ruin and end people's life.

  9. The title of this video should be all the rich YouTube gardeners, get together with their rich corporate sponsor to build a highly expensive garden to show off their money

  10. Epic Gardening has almost 4 million subs, does he really need Home Depot money that desperately? They a reprehensible organization. The billionaire company founder was a HUGE donor to the current administration before he died in 2024.

Additionally, Home Depot allows ICE operations on its properties and has a partnership with Flock Security, an Atlanta-based company that sells license plate reading cameras and software….

"It is shameful to see how corporations who rely on our Black and brown and immigrant working class communities for their consumption, for their money, and for their businesses, then turn on us and let ICE terrorize our hardworking day laborers at their parking lots", Alberto Feregrino, the Georgia organizing director with the nonprofit We Are CASA.

  11. Genuine question. How did you get such great wood from Home Depot? We are here in Las Vegas Nevada, and I can't tell you how much money we've wasted on crap wood. It warps, bows, splits, and Home Depot won't exchange it for good wood. To the point that we have now reached out to lumber mills directly. It costs more, but when you take in to consideration that a lot of the wood we buy ends up being unusable, the cost comes out almost the same. I'd prefer to be able to buy wood as we need it at Home Depot, but we've been so let down by the quality and can't keep wasting money.💚
