Transforming your garden can be costly, particularly when beginning from the ground up. Fortunately, there are methods to refresh outdoor areas without breaking the bank. Experts at LightingLegends.com have revealed “simple yet effective” modifications to implement this spring.

Jon Saeed, co-founder of LightingLegends.com, explained: “Upgrading your outdoor space ready for the spring and summer doesn’t have to be expensive. You also don’t have to differentiate changes for the space to feel different.

People often make the mistake of thinking they need an entirely new garden dining set or a complete landscaping refresh for the space to feel different, but it’s just not true.

“Making a few small changes, such as edging borders, adding lighting, and other accessories such as garden cushions and outdoor rugs, can instantly make everything look neater and brighter.”

Install solar lighting

Solar lights are an excellent enhancement and can help create a more welcoming atmosphere in your garden during the evenings, prolonging your outdoor summer enjoyment. These can be suspended along fencing or positioned into the soil to highlight pathways or plant displays, reports the Express.

Gravel pathways and patios

The specialist noted: “Gravel is one of the cheapest ways to make a garden path or patio. Of course, the total cost of the gravel you’ll need will depend on the size you’re hoping to cover, but gravel can be fairly inexpensive in comparison to other materials.

“You can do this yourself by simply marking up and digging out your path, adding edging and weed membrane and laying down the gravel.”

Take advantage of marketplaces. Both online and physical marketplaces often offer fantastic finds that remain in good condition. Items such as tables, benches, and large planters from these marketplaces are usually affordable and may only require a bit of paint to spruce them up.

Enhance seating areas with accessories

The gardening expert advised: “You may not need an entire new garden set. Some fresh accessories and decorative pieces can make existing furniture look new.

“Consider purchasing some outdoor cushions or throws to add to your seating area. Outdoor rugs also bring a new lease of life to the area and can make it more cosy.”

Revamp ordinary materials

The expert suggested browsing online marketplaces and charity shops for materials or products you could repurpose in the garden. You might need to get a bit inventive, but upcycled items often add the most charm to gardens. For instance, wooden pallets can be transformed into seating or vertical planters.

Edge your borders or lawn

The expert stated: “Neat lines will instantly make the garden look visually tidy and clean.

“Dig a shallow trench and add something like bricks or stones for the edging. You can also add a layer of sand first to make sure everything is even.”

Apply a fresh coat of paint to the garden

A fresh lick of paint on fences, gates, and sheds can significantly enhance the garden’s appearance.

The expert pointed out that it’s a “cheap and cheerful” method to rejuvenate the space.
