I started this as a tiny nursery stock 2 years ago. I’m happy with its growth but also unsure of the end direction. I can’t envision the pad layout. Do I only leave the branches that will make the pads? Haven’t found any inspiration yet…

For some basic direction you could remove bar branches on the cascade, then wire and bend that so the remaining secundary branches are on the outside of the bends. Don’t just wire side to side, make it 3d. Then wire some movement into the secundary branches, slope then down first and then more horizontal.
