After months of planning, talking, and putting things off… we finally got started on the projects that actually matter.

Today didn’t come with a perfect plan—and honestly, I didn’t even feel like working on the cabin—but sometimes progress looks like starting somewhere, even if it’s not what you expected. We headed into the woods to begin clearing out dead and problem trees, opening up the canopy, and making space for what’s to come.

This is something we’ve wanted to tackle since we moved here, and it’s finally time to chip away at it—one tree at a time.

At the same time, we’re shifting focus toward the garden. With spring right around the corner (and a cold snap on the way), we’re doing what we can now to get ahead—hauling mulch, building up beds, and figuring out a better system than last year. This time, we’re using what we have, keeping it simple, and trying to be a little smarter about how we do things.

It’s not pretty. It’s not finished. But it’s real progress.

From chainsaw issues and falling trees… to kids helping move mulch and learning when to rest—this is just a normal day on our homestead. A little messy, a little chaotic, but moving forward.

We’ve got big plans for this year, and this is where it starts.

Thanks for being here with us.

  1. Spring chances jobs to be done. Clear before everything starts to be overgrown and can't get in there. You really need some protective gear on. Listen to your wife! Things can be replaced but you and your safety cannot. Getting a garden ready takes a lot of time. Be careful out there.

  2. you have all those leaf trees, you should be saving all the leaves, Best thing for a garden is leaves from trees, the worms. Love them we got a lot of Maple trees here and that's what I put on my garden after the leaves fall off the trees, I covered my garden beds in them for the winter,😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

  3. yes you can can everything. And it's the best way to preserve food. It keeps for years, I can everything potatoes I can my rabbit meat I can't Stew I can't like chicken soup and I turn it into chicken noodle soup and nothing better than some homemade chicken noob soup I can't hear them. All my jam, I used to can with my mum years ago and I also you, you should have can a lot of food. Before I'd go on a hunting trip, I'd usually go on a one hunting trip a year for about two months to three months alongside the ocean do all my hunting and all my fishing in one trip it's cheaper that way. That made it worthwhile I'd can a bunch of food. I would even can chicken and just pour in a bit of barbecue sauce in with the chicken. Can it and boy was that ever good barbecued canned chicken 0, that was so delicious. And a lot of times I ended up bringing most of it back with me, because I ate what I haunted and when I got out of the ocean fresh crab fresh rockfish and then one day I came, From Hunting off the mountain decided to lay in my bus, I always backed my bus up so I could have a view of the ocean cause a bedroom was in the back of the bus and two or three Canadian geese slided on the beach, so I went out and shot two of them. that's what I had for supper that night. The boy was at it for good, Canadian geese yummy and no, I didn't have a license to hunt Canadian geese, but I'm a very high believer you should be allowed to hunt what you eat,😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

  4. Episode where Paul discovers the true meaning of "the quick and the dead", Olivia carries on and Lincoln displays wisdom beyond his years. 🤣

  5. HOLA Amigo!
Might be time to consider PPEs. You know: helmet, ear protection, face protection, tree cutting chaps and possibly safety shoes/boots. None of my business but…

  6. That mulch-soil looks great for the garden. Much rather have that than by the bag full, and diffently a better product and price. Love that Lincoln is helping.

  7. Great work, y'all. I love watching Lincoln growing into such a great little helper.
