Hi, the state of the trees in my backyard is pretty bad. I noticed we had ivy when we moved in 3 years ago, but didn’t think anything of it. I thought it was pretty at first.
A few weeks ago, I noticed that the tree in the right side of the first photos started leaning. I’m concerned about it falling. Is there anything we can do?
Also I see we have a terrible ivy problem. It’s all over the back of the yard floor. Must be years and years of it growing. What can we do about it? My husband started pulling some off as you see in the last pics.
I also realized that I think the ivy goes all the way up the trees to the very top. Does it seem like that? I just realized that the tree “never lost its leaves” in winter 🫠. What can we do about this situation?
Thanks!

This ivy is pretty bad and is constructing the trees and obscuring their leaves from being able to complete photosynthesis.
The solution is very simple and easy. Cut all of the vines at the base and make sure it doesn’t regrow. Do not pull off the vines, wait for them to die and fall off on their own otherwise you risk injuring the tree.
About the only thing you can do is cut all the ivy at its base and let it die. After it decomposes for a while you’ll be able to start pulling it off. Or let it fall off. But if you don’t want it to overgrow the trees again your gonna have to keep chopping. That tree that’s leaning may be dead itself and the vines are holding it up. Just be careful when your underneath till you find out.
You could use something like roundup or similar, but that’s not healthy for you and it kills everything
