My friend and I bought 20 acres of land that is zoned for offgrid living/agriculture and we had friends who said they were interested in building up with us and then once anyone had to help with anything they all disappeared and now my friend and I are trying to figure out what to do with 20 acres of land

There is a sub reddit for intentional communities I think you would enjoy. If you are serious, do your research and take off the rose-colored glasses. Also, WOOF-ing might interest you.

Seen the movie Midsommar? No thank you.

Oh look, they’ve discovered a 1960s commune! 🤣

I’d join if y’all are open to including people who aren’t pagan

It didn’t work out so well for Jim Jones. 🤔

Like a commune? I’d love to but got no scratch. All I have to offer are my efforts. About to start living off of the government due to fibromyalgia.

Not really wanting to move from NorCal though.

I’ve got a couple houses and some land (not tons) in the Ozarks of Arkansas. People who are interested in coming here feel free to reach out. My wife and I would love to build community here 🙂

Doing this without a lawyer setting everything up first is nuts

If anyone is doing this around Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, I’d be down to talk and get a contract going. I wanna move up there, and my job transfers, so I’d have an income

Me and two other friend families split 30 acres and are all building our shops and houses on the property. Nothing is actually communal except we treat the whole 30 acres communally while legally we each own a 10 acre parcel.

I would call it a commune….no religious or political affiliation…..just group of folks who can work/live in close proximity…..and help one another…when required. Ideally, everyone has skill set to offer group ?!!

Unfortunately there always needs to be a boss, foreman or leader it becomes a cult eventually. The idea is awesome but without a hierarchy there’s no one to pull the bludgers or people not doing what you’ve envisioned into line
dizzymorningdragon
I would lol, if at all possible. Lots logistical and financial hurdles

It’s a nice idea, but how much thought have you put into this? Just buying land for a single person is a pretty big deal, but getting a dozen or so people together to buy it might be pretty complex.
FatDaddy777
I would love this. Unfortunately I’m not in a place to do so. This is a dream of mine
Snapper_Turtleman
Im 💯 down for this. My kids are moving out this month and my wife and I are talking about scamming down to van life and crossing around till we find someplace that we like.
