I bought this about 4 weeks ago and have not watered it. Recently the one in the forefront has become puffy and yellowish/translucent looking. I recognized this as a sign of overwatering/root rot. I took it out of the pot to examine the roots but saw no evidence of such. The one in the back looks healthy and smaller. They were both that size when I bought it. I have checked google but haven't been able to get any info on this particular issue. Hoping someone can give me some insight. This is my first lithop and I love them. Plan to get more if I can learn how to grow them. Any advice on how to keep them healthy would be appreciated.

Lithops grow differently from most other succulents. They develop new leaves underneath the existing ones and use the water from the existing leaves to develop the new ones. Then the old ones split in the middle and shrivel and shed as the new leaves underneath develop and start to expose. That’s what you’re seeing with the translucent quality of the leaves. They will start to shrink and shrivel away as their water is used up for the new leaves below. Do not water at all during this process!
Its fine its just munching the old leaves .. like this

You Can see how paler the old leaves become as they are being consumed
