My friend gave me a cutting of ZZ plant and this is how I’m planning to propagate. Would anyone recommend cutting more individual leaves? Cutting the thicker stems in half? Any suggestions are appreciated. Otherwise I’ll just pop them in jars once they callous.

ZZs are super forgiving, but they’re also *slow*, so the setup matters more than people expect. Whole stems like that will root, but they take ages, splitting into individual leaf cuttings gives you more chances but each one grows even slower.
I usually do a mix, keep a couple stems intact for faster results and take a few leaf cuttings on the side. Water or soil both work, just don’t keep them too wet or they’ll stall instead of rooting.
I propagated from a naked stem and it took months to grow its first stem leaves. I also did leaf cuttings and same. It took months but they are now plants.
Individual leaflets may take years to show more growth, don’t cut them down further unless you want a ton of plants but not until 2029 lol. The larger the cutting the better speed-wise with ZZs (though they’re always slow), I would recommend whole-leaf cuttings in the future rather than cutting the leaf into segments like this.
