From hands‑on garden advice and creative crafting groups to film screenings, local history talks and a full slate of AI‑focused tech sessions, Tiverton Public Library’s April schedule offers adults plenty of ways to learn, connect and unwind, according to a community announcement.

Highlights include the Spring Garden Expo, multiple book clubs meeting on and off site, and a documentary screening during National Library Week — alongside ongoing creative and technology programs throughout the month.

One‑on‑One Tech Help

All month long

Personalized technology help is available for adults of all skill levels. Participants can bring specific questions or simply talk through general tech concerns. Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling 401‑625‑6796, ext. 8, or by visiting tivertonlibrary.org.

Craft Circle

Wednesday, April 1 | 5–8 p.m.

Crafters of all kinds — including knitters, quilters and other makers — are invited to gather in the Community Room for a monthly social crafting night. Participants should bring their own projects and supplies.

2026 Spring Garden Expo

Saturday, April 4 | 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

The library will host its fourth annual Spring Garden Expo, a free event featuring complimentary seeds, soil testing and advice from URI Master Gardeners. The expo also includes a raffle benefiting outdoor library programming, gardening books for sale, family activities and representatives from organizations across New England.

Crochet Club

Mondays | 6–7 p.m.

Held in the Teen Room, this weekly crochet group welcomes beginners and experienced crocheters alike. The program is open to both teens and adults.

Weekly Watercolor Group

Tuesdays | 12:30–2:30 p.m.

This informal watercolor meet‑up provides space for artists to work on individual projects while socializing with others. The group is not instructional, and participants must bring their own supplies.

Tech Tuesday: AI for Recipes

Tuesday, April 7 | 2 p.m.

This hands‑on session explores how artificial intelligence can generate recipes based on ingredients participants already have at home. Registration is required, and space is limited.

Caty and the General: The Greenes of Rhode Island

Wednesday, April 8 | 6:30–7:30 p.m.

As part of the sixth annual John Fitzgerald Memorial History Program, Fred Zilian will present a talk on Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene and his wife, Catharine “Caty” Greene. The program explores their early lives, marriage, wartime hardships and Caty Greene’s later life after her husband’s death. The event is hosted by the Friends of Tiverton Libraries.

Tiverton Public Library Book Group

Friday, April 10 | 10:30 a.m. or Wednesday, April 15 | 6 p.m.

The book group will discuss The Wedding People by Alison Espach. Copies are available for checkout at the library, and all adults are welcome to attend either session.

Sakonnet Writers Group

Saturday, April 11 | 10 a.m.–noon

This drop‑in writing group uses prompts to support writers of all levels. The free program is open to the public and intended for writers ages 18 and older.

Bajah’s Book Club

Monday, April 13 | 12:30–1:30 p.m., Bajah’s Cat Café, 137 Main Road

Participants will meet in the cat room at Bajah’s Cat Café to discuss The Cat Who Saved the Library by Sosuke Natsukawa. Copies of the book are available at Tiverton Public Library.

Tech Tuesday: AI for Dietary Restrictions

Tuesday, April 14 | 2 p.m.

This session demonstrates how AI can modify existing recipes to accommodate food intolerances or allergies. Registration is required due to limited space.

Painting with Acrylics

Tuesday, April 14 | 3:30–5:50 p.m.

Local artist John Irwin will guide participants through the process of beginning and completing an acrylic painting. All materials are provided. Registration is required.

Cross Stitching Group

Wednesday, April 15 | 5–8 p.m.

Cross stitchers of all experience levels are invited to work on their own projects while sharing ideas and advice. Participants must bring their own equipment and supplies.

Union Public Library Book Group

Thursday, April 16 | 1–2 p.m., Union Public Library

This month’s discussion focuses on Happy Land by Dolen Perkins‑Valdez. Copies are available at both Tiverton and Union public libraries.

Adult Crafternoon: Decoupage Tiles

Monday, April 20 | 2–3:30 p.m.

Participants will create tile coasters using spring‑themed napkins, magazine pages and old maps. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Tech Tuesday: AI for Meal Planning and Shopping

Tuesday, April 21 | 2 p.m.

This program explores how AI can help plan weekly meals within a set grocery budget and identify stores with potential deals. Registration is required.

Art House Film Night

Tuesday, April 21 | 5:30–8 p.m.

The library will screen Becoming Jane (2007, PG), followed by a group discussion. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. The event is presented in partnership with the Tiverton Arts Council.

National Library Week Film Screening: The Librarians

Wednesday, April 22 | 6–7:30 p.m.

As part of National Library Week, the library will show the documentary The Librarians, which examines book bans and censorship efforts across the United States. Refreshments will be provided.

Tech Tuesday: AI for Walking and Exercise Goals

Tuesday, April 28 | 2 p.m.

This session demonstrates how AI can help generate personalized walking or exercise goals based on individual lifestyles. Registration is required.

Rhode Island Independence Day

Wednesday, April 29 | 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Susan Anderson of the Tiverton Historical Society will present a talk exploring Rhode Island’s unique path to independence, including key dates, symbols and historical concepts behind the state’s identity.
