A transformed garden centre has confirmed a celebrity guest for its opening day.

The new look Grantham Garden Centre, at Gonerby Moor, will officially launch on Friday, April 3, with BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Adam Frost set to cut the ribbon at 9am.

The opening marks the first public unveiling of the former Downtown Garden Centre site since British Garden Centres acquired it at the end of January and carried out a rapid refurbishment programme.

British Garden Centres has introduced changes, including an expanded range of plants, gardenware and outdoor furniture.

The centre also features concessions including Maidenhead Aquatics, Hobbycraft and Granite Kitchens.

The on-site Gardeners Retreat Restaurant has been redesigned with an updated menu and new carvery. A soft play area remains.

Natalie Skins, centre manager, said the aim was to build on the site’s reputation.

“Grantham is a fantastic community, and we are absolutely thrilled to be putting down roots here,” she said.

“This garden centre has always been a much-loved destination for families, and it is our mission to make it even better, a place where people of all ages can come together, get inspired, and enjoy a wonderful day out.”

Amy Stubbs, managing director of British Garden Centres, said the company had invested heavily.

“We have invested significantly in making sure Grantham has a garden centre that matches the very best in our group,” she said.

“We are confident that families are going to love what we have created and we look forward to welcoming you.”

The opening event will run throughout the day, with offers continuing across the weekend.
