The event is happening Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29 at the McDonough Sports Complex at Hudson Valley Community College. Nicole Babie, director of the Wildwood Foundation, said a portion of every ticket sale supports Wildwood.

“Sure, so the Flower and Garden Expo had started many years ago as a Wildwood fundraiser. Wildwood started this event. So now it is no longer our fundraiser, but a portion of every ticket sale does support Wildwood and our important mission,” Babie said.

Babie said Wildwood supports 1600 people across the Capital Region from ages 3 through 93. She said the expo also gives the organization a chance to explain its work to people who may not know about Wildwood.

“So Wildwood originally started as a school. So we still support students. Our school is in Schenectady. We support students from ages 5 through 21. And we have 14 counties that are supported at our school,” she said. “So it goes as far north as Lake George, as far south as Kinderhook, and everything in between.”

Babie said Wildwood also runs adult programs, day hubs, residential programs and employment services. She said the organization helps people with disabilities get jobs in the community and offers support for families.

“So we really have a little bit of everything. We have Respite. I know I’m missing a ton, but we have every program you can imagine, which is a really wonderful way for us to support a large number of people and their families,” said Babie.

Visitors can also stop by Wildwood booths during the expo. Babie said Wildwood has an information booth and another booth in the marketplace staffed by individuals and volunteers.

Babby said the sensory room is new this year and gives people a quiet place to step away from the crowd. She said every admission this weekend helps support Wildwood’s mission.
