If you are in the US, 24 hrs. IS NOT enough time to de-gas chlorine. This is because most municipalities use a chemical called chloramine. It's a chlorine and ammonia molecule that holds the chlorine in solution longer. Usually one week. Be sure to call your municipality and ask them before you decide to use tap, or just wait the extra time.
