My wife got me these seeds and I’ve never grown tomatoes. I bought the seedling starter and just wanted to get some advice on soils to use and setup for when they come out of the starter. Also if anyone has ever grown this variety of tomatoes. I don’t have a garden at my house so my plants will be in planters. Any advice helps. Thank you! I live in central NC if that helps

Here’s my extensive guide on Seed Starting. It’s long but I kept adding to it every time someone reported a problem.

The lights on that seed dome are not enough to grow seedlings. Since you’re only growing a few tomatoes, you can get a decent seed starting mix for the seed cells. You don’t need anything fancy. You will need 5-7 gallon containers for the tomato seedlings. Or equivalent sized planters for each tomato plant.
Use really good composted soil. I like Fox Farm Ocean Forrest. I’m sure that setup will be fine if this is just for fun. Keep them hydrated but not wet. My kids and I use this same setup and it works great. Have fun and good luck.
You can find a bag of starter mix most anywhere. Fill up the cells, water them, plant 1 seed per cell, close the lid and stick it under a light source (preferably some sort of grow light). Just keep it damp and you’ll get seedlings popping up soon enough.

If you want the simple version, put it in some miracle grow soil and watch it grow. Don’t let it freeze. Water it when it’s dry.
If you’re doing pots, you can have 1 plant per 5gallon pot and those get BIG. Probably 9 out of 10 seeds will sprout. Plan accordingly. If you overdo it you will be way too tempted to try and sneak 2 plants in together or do smaller pots and the plant and harvest will suffer. Hopefully these pots will still be outside.
