It’s still a better price than most places, but it’s been increasing rapidly. Last year it was 3/$1 (33¢ ea) and a couple years before that it was 4/$1 (25¢ ea).
Really sucks to see because the prices were consistent til covid. Literally double the price in a few short years

Walmart got 50 cent seers away from the expensive ones usually at the end of on of the aisles.
Mom-all-knowing
They are 2 for $1 here at dollar general. Same seeds. Not a lot in each packet.

Cheap is good, but successful germination is what’s important. If you have had good germination with Dollar Tree seeds, that’s a plus.
My daughter bought me 3 packets as a surprise. I already have all 3 that she bought (San Diego Seed Company is where I bought my original seeds that are now all in the ground), but we are going to plant some today for her little garden.

I tried the dollar general $2 box of seeds this year I have a few germinated a week later. Hopefully they do well for the size / box
My best germination and blooms came from that brand Petunias!!
Multi_Purpose
I get those to pass out on Halloween (along with candy/toys) with the hopes of getting neighborhood kids into gardening.
PocketsFullOf_Posies
I’ve had good experience with dollar tree seeds. They germinate well. They used to be 4/$1 a few years ago and even 10/$1 before that. 😭

Menards has em $0.10

I haven’t tried the variety personally, but I read that Marketmore is great cuke!

The best thing about these seeds is that they are almost all open-pollinated so they will stay true to type if you save your own seeds.
The price doubling over just a few years is disappointing, but I still think they are a good deal for anyone on a home garden scale.

Keep in mind that some American Seed varieties are F1 hybrids and won’t breed true if you save the seeds. This is true for a lot of seed companies. If you don’t save seeds, then it’s not a problem.

I haven’t had one seed packet from American Seed bought at the DOLLAR TREE EVER SPROUT.

I bought a bunch of these from dollar tree this year and everything has germinated so far with the exception of one or two varieties….easiest were the tomatoes, radish, squash, bush beans, zinnias…Lavender and peppers were difficult but than I researched peppers need heat mat and lavender seeds need to be placed in a wet paper towel and put in a ziplock and placed in fridge for a month in order to get them to germinate bc they require a season of cold in order to germinate …I have not tried this yet…but compared to seed packets from rare seeds, johnny seeds or other companies that sell packets from $4-5 each this is a steal. I have also never germinated seeds before so in my honest opinion I think they produce really well and will be buying more.
intothewoods76
Last year they were 4 for $1

My tomatoes were sunflowers

It is if you only need a few. But compare the quantity and figure out the per mg cost. They are about on average or more per unit than ferry Morse, Burpee and others.

There’s like 3 seeds in each packet

I bought marigold seeds from dollar store 4 years ago. Been collecting seeds and growing them each summer ever since.
PunchNmunch
make sure they all have seeds in them.
yelprep
These are all good solid heirloom varieties. I use them all the time. The only downside is variety. There is only one or maybe two options for each vegetable, but it’s a good type.
RobbieRedding
Those same packs were 4/$1 in 2020 😭

Shrinkflation. They sold them 4 for $1.25 last year & 4 for $1 the year before. Yes, the seeds are good & viable.

I bought a few of those…..I had success with the Impatiens, but not the Zinnias. They germinated, then immediately died so probably my fault.
I also got tomato seeds (Roma) from Dollar General and so far those are doing good.
onekewlmom
Majority of my seeds are from dollar tree. They’ve done so well for me.
Gumblewiz
They give out free seeds at my local library.

I bought several packs of the top left corner about 2 weeks ago. I just threw some here and there randomly in the garden, I’m 100% on germination. Hopefully they’ll bring in the bees
