COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — The Montgomery County Master Gardener Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Farm, Home and Youth Complex, 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville.

This annual event—hosted by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners—offers an abundant selection of high-quality plants grown locally by Master Gardeners and sourced from trusted nurseries. Shoppers will find vibrant annuals, vegetable transplants, herbs, hardy perennials, trees, shrubs, and more. Knowledgeable Master Gardeners will be on hand throughout the sale to help visitors choose the right plants for their gardens and answer questions about care, placement, and maintenance.

Master Gardeners are trained in plant selection, soil health, pest management, and sustainable gardening practices. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or planting your very first container, you’ll receive expert guidance to help your garden thrive.

Multiple pavilions within the Farm, Home and Youth Complex serve as the venues for the sale. In the Seipt pavilion you will find Annuals and Vegetables, Herbs and Woodies.

Explore a wide variety of flowering annuals—available in pots and hanging baskets—suited for sun or shade. You’ll also find butterfly-attracting and deer-resistant options. Vegetable lovers can choose from numerous tomato varieties, sweet and hot peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and more. Stop by our educational table for tips on designing a butterfly container garden, using colorful annuals with flowers that provide nectar for butterflies to feed on.  Also, we’ll give you suggestions for choosing deer resistant annuals for container gardening or planting in your in-ground gardens.

Fresh, fragrant, and easy to grow, our herbs are perfect for cooks and gardeners alike. Choose from a variety of culinary favorites—great for containers or garden beds—that add flavor, aroma, and a touch of green to any space. Herbs are versatile, low-maintenance, and ideal for both beginners and seasoned gardeners. Perfect for home cooking, gifting, or simply enjoying the sensory delight of fresh herbs right at your fingertips.  Many of these plants produce nectar-rich flowers that attract and nourish pollinators throughout the growing season.

The “Woodies” section offers a wonderful selection of trees, shrubs and vines.  You will find natives, native cultivars and non-aggressive exotics, all suitable for growing in our local climate. Options include groundcovers, plants with standout flowers or fall color, and species that support pollinators.

The Marcho Pavilion will feature over 800 perennials, grown by Master Gardeners and local nurseries. With 80 varieties of sun and shade perennials, this pavilion will highlight Native plants that support local ecosystems and attract beneficial wildlife.

All around the sale you will find Master Gardeners and Master Gardener Grown Plants. Master Gardeners are trained in plant care. They can answer your questions and give you tips for planting and caring for plants that they’ve grown. You’ll find well-established plants straight from a Master Gardener’s garden, which means they’re already adapted to our climate and soil conditions—giving them a stronger start in your own garden. Whether you’re starting your first garden or adding something new to your landscape, Master Gardener grown plants help your garden succeed from the start.

The Clemen’s Pavilion is the check-out area, and houses tools and garden-related items for purchase. This year we’ll have birdhouse gourds for sale. Master Gardener volunteers will pull your price tags, add up your purchases and direct you to the cash, check or credit payment areas. Any last-minute advice you might need is there for the asking!

Mark your calendar for May 16; your perfect plants are waiting for you! Proceeds from the sale support Master Gardener community education and outreach programs throughout Montgomery County.
