I’ve had good luck teak cleaning, then brushing oil on thick over the most weathered, leave for 30 minutes and wipe off. Leave a couple days, give a final wipe
You can put a vinyl tablecloth for the 🌧️ days it helps my furniture
It is astounding how difficult it is to source materials for renovations. I mean, a lot of non-custom items have to be ordered online and then you have to wait weeks for them to come in. I waited 2 months for the flooring I wanted only to be told it was out of stock even though when I ordered it it was in stock. No explanations. Then had to wait another 3 weeks for my second choice. It's really smart to get all materials there first so the contactor can dedicate their complete attention to o your project and get it done in a short time frame.
When we built our house, pocket doors were installed in several rooms but after a few years, they settled and they became hard to open and close. Not a fan of pocket doors 😏
I have a glass patio room (just like a glass greenhouse). I installed some window tint on the large windows to help with the heat and privacy. Perhaps putting some window tint on the glass in the Hartley may help? The window tint does not block the view and there are different options to choose from.
7:43 🥹🫶 Aweee, geez…this room always takes me back to the GA days of ‘17. 😁☺️ Mail times, projects like the wreath of dried orange slices (which I made again this past December, for our family’s Yule/Winter Solstice celebration). It was in this room, I first found Laura/GA. 🥳🙌 I’d just bought my one and only fiddle leaf fig and hopped on YT to learn how to care for it. Watched several videos from different creators, but it was Laura in that room, explaining FLF care, in such a pleasant, succinct manner, that made me realize: 1) I can take care of this tree! 2) I want to watch more videos from this sweet, very intelligent, knowledgeable, down-to-earth woman!!
Laura’s been saying for quite some time now, that space isn’t ideal for filming or more importantly, day to day living. As we see less and less of it, each passing year, I’ve been preparing myself for the day they decide to do away with it, and turn it into a space their family truly loves and can enjoy with regularity! 🩷🏡🩵 How crazy is it, that seeing a room in a home I’ve never been in, that belongs to a family I’ve never met, made my nose tingle and my heart skip a beat this morning? Compelled me to blabber on like this??! 🥹😭 Is this the 51yo version of fan-girling?? Am I–are we–the “Swifties”, or the more apropos “Deadheads” of GA? 🤔💭😉 If so, I’ll own it with pride!! 😃
that table could have used sanding first and then polish and oil couple of time, would look like brand new
Hey Paul!
I’ve been watching your channel for over 6 years now. I now have a 6 month old daughter and I just wanted to let you know that you give her the same energy as Ms. Rachel. When I watch your videos she turns her head to the tv and everytime the camera is on your face, she gives a huge smile and a squeal! She only does this for you and Ms. Rachel. Sometimes I will ask her if she wants to watch Ms. Rachel or Auntie Laura 😅😅😅
Hi Laura and Aaron,
Australian here – everything wants to kill us here. When you say “snakes” and “spiders” it hits differently for us.😂
PS: That’s notwithstanding our great white sharks, crocodiles and blue ring octopuses… the list is long, really long.
Uh, no on the beard Aaron, too much! 🫣
Why toilet and vanity (1/2 bath) across from kids bathroom? Each to their own.
That window sounds genius 🎉
I want those too 😂
Regarding the black widows in the Hartley, do you think they were eating bugs on your plants and did you ever see any cobwebs? Also, knowing what you know now would you have had bigger trees placed on all four corners of the Hartley when you first started landscaping so it doesn’t take us long for those trees to shade the area or do you like watching the Maples grow?
When I lived in NJ, the black widows were aggressive. Especially when protecting their egg sack.
Your contractor IS SO SMART to insist every component is on-site, inspected and accepted, BEFORE beginning!
He is brilliant.
Very few contractos do that — he must be either super smart, super experienced, or both.
That must be why you chose him!
Great job on table looks good. Laundry room is coming along excited for you both.
My plant envy is in overdrive!
Hey Laura, I think you needed to pressure wash the dining set and chairs before putting the oil. It looks like it needed it. It has been sitting outside for a while
How interesting is the window mechanism 🙂. Can you please share the name of the company? Thank you! 🌸
Your outdoor furniture is actually eucalyptus and was originally stained. (I have the same furniture). The stain doesn't last very long and teak oil doesn't seem to either. I had to restain mine.
The laundry looks fantastic! Is this the same contractor that did your parent's place?
Great upkeep video. Am loving the concrete tabletop on pillars.
Aaron, your hair is point on!!!!! Garden Answer Suave
All hail the Pink Hollyhock! Hip Hip Hooray!
Hi laura,my favorite motivator!❤ just curious, how to you handle the black widows, kill or just vacuum them? I hate spiders, very arachnifobic lol
Hi-at 9:43, what is the name of the 'sort of fern looking' plant that you put on the stand?
This was a great video of all of your accomplishments today. I loved reading all of the comments too. They too are a learning experience. From peppermint oil put around in the Hartley to hopefully hinder BW spiders to ways to clean and restoring the teak furniture and also possibly putting in a stone “flooring” under the teak table area. Great ideas. I didn’t know about the neat screen windows either. I do have a storm door that uses that same process and I love it. Sending love to you all for a wonderful spring 😁💗👏👍🌻🌸🌺🌼🍓⭐️🙏😻
When in doubt, load it with animals and decide next year. 😂
The bird bath succulent arrangement is absolutely gorgeous! Everything looks wonderful! Thanks!
Hi Laura. We just completed a laundry room next to our office. We decided to use some sound proofing products and we are so glad we did. I thought you may want to consider that as well.
Long time watcher first time commenter.. I think.
Maybe a glue trap in the enclosed basket to catch any spiders…
Can you share where you order your outdoor cushions? I do look forward to your videos every day and enjoy seeing all of your gardens and property as well as your family and now your home improvements to your beautiful home! Thank you for sharing knowledge and all with us out here.
Love the bench Laura.
I love that bench in the Harley actually anywhere it's gorgeous! I love cement but have a plastic budget, so I'm going to be making me cement planters. I saw a lady make them and then she used icing bags and cake molds to add cement to and decorate the outside and make them fancy! Jill
Since you don’t use the front sun porch would you consider taking it down?
