BAGLEY — Nearly 60 guests came out to the Shevlin Garden Club’s annual Spring Wake-Up Garden Workshop on March 21 at the Bagley American Legion, which featured speakers, door prizes and educational opportunities.

The Shevlin Garden Club was established on April 15, 1952. Its purpose is to encourage enhanced knowledge of horticulture and promotion of all forms of gardening, both at home and in the community, a release said. Its motto is “Build a House; Plant a Home.”

Door prizes were provided by Ace Hardware in Bagley, TLC Greenhouse in Shevlin, Dawn Wann’s in Zerkel, Grow It in Gonvick, Hanson’s Greenhouse in Shevlin, Galen’s Hardware, Clearwater Polk, Connie Nunemaker, Sheila Capistran, Isabel Harmon and Pamela French.

The next club meeting is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the Clearwaters Life Center coffee room in Gonvick. The program will focus on Integrated Pest Management and a tour of the greenhouses, with the possibility of making purchases.

The annual plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 23, in the horticultural building at the Clearwater County Fairgrounds. May also kicks off monthly tours of various gardens, which run through September.

“The SGC has several very talented people who grew more than green thumbs,” the release notes. “The SGC gives you a chance to experience the beauty.”
