We spent about 20 min watching it go in and out of the trap! It’s already gotten really comfy with the trap, which didn’t shut 🤦♀️ the chicken’s body was preventing the door from shutting, we fixed it, so I’m expecting a mink in the morning. Will report back.
We only have a few birds left, we are downsizing the birds after moving, they’re aging out of laying, and we are expecting baby #2 in a few weeks. But the rest of the flock is in the upper loft of our barn in pretty safe quarters for the next few days.

That’s crazy. I trapped one many years ago when I was trying to catch chipmunks. I’m pretty sure I have another one. I found 2 dead bullfrogs, one partly eaten, in my kayak last week and poop that matching mink. I need to tighten up my barn bit.

We lost about 18 birds last summer to a mink, well 7 of you count that he really only made off with the parts he could drag under the barn. Had the trap out for 2 weeks, didn’t close the first week. Fixed it and then somehow the chicken head was gone, trap was closed and it still got out of it. They’re crafty little shits. But damn cute.

Sorry about you hen :-(. This is a crazy shot indeed. Those things are like ninja assassins.
