A flashlight Easter Egg hunt and hands-on native plant workshop offered this weekend are just a few of the upcoming fun events hosted by the Conejo Recreation and Park District.

The egg hunt takes place at five different locations simultaneously from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 27 with new hunts beginning every 20 minutes to offer plenty of chances for kids to join in. Children can bring their baskets and flashlights to take part in the fun at Borchard Community Center, Dos Vientos Community Center, Thousand Oaks Community Center, Conejo Community Center and Old Meadows Center.

The workshop, “Intro to Native Plants & Resilient Landscapes,” focuses on sustainable gardening and native plants takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sat., March 28 at McCrea Ranch, 4500 N. Moorpark Road. The session will be led by gardening expert Kristin Guy and will introduce participants to climate-resilient gardening practices using local, native plants.

The workshop will cover techniques for creating low-maintenance landscapes suited to Southern California’s environment, with an emphasis on conserving water, supporting biodiversity and reducing resource use. Organizers say the class is designed for gardeners of all experience levels.
