For more than 30 years, the arrival of spring in Orlando has been heralded with an explosion of flowers, color, and trademark Disney magic. A topiary of Figment, the brightly hued dragon that serves as a park mascot, welcomes visitors to the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, taking place March 4 through June 1. Across the park, stunning floral displays include more than 61 Disney character topiaries, 31 gardens, and various horticultural exhibits. Don’t miss Butterfly Landing, filled with monarchs, yellow eastern tiger swallowtails, and zebra longwings, Florida’s state butterfly. Sample plant-based fare like “frushi” at one of the food kiosks scattered throughout the park, and sign the kids up for scavenger hunts such as Spike the Bee’s Pollen-Nation Exploration or the Eggstravaganza, where they’ll search for character-themed eggs. Cap off the evening with a live performance by a local band or internationally known artist at the Garden Rocks Concert Series, featuring nightly shows at the American pavilion’s outdoor amphitheater.
