I inherited this massive jade plant from my grandmother a few months, I’ve not had time to give it proper attention until now. I’ve never had a jade plant this size I know she’s also neglected it in the past few years before she past due to failing health. Any suggestions on care and how to get it looking its best? There is a lot of new little growth along the top branches.

Damn to early for comments. I am in a similar boat. Yours looks fuller and healthier than my leaning tower of Jade

It’s very hard to screw up a jade plant.

Just give it water and sun… sometimes it doesn’t even need those.

It’s an extremely intense plant in terms of care, but you may want to consider repotting it so it has fresher soil, or you can add fertilizer, though that’s more complicated.

Do not buy Miracle-Gro…. do not ever buy Miracle-Gro.

It looks very overwatered. The leaves are too plump and heavy. I would take a screw driver and loosen up the soil a bit and stick my finger to see what the soil feels like. Let it dry out.

Here is my outdoor jade… its typically 100°-110°F during the summer and doesnt freeze here (Central Valley California.) The past week its been around 90°F, and its blooming. They like the heat in the shade. I have a few more in full sun… they suffer a bit and are another color from sun stress.

If you zoom into my pic… you can see the difference.. my leaves are pretty flat. Mine needs some water. They are hardy plants indoors and outdoors.

It actually looks pretty healthy already! I’d give it more light they love bright light prune leggy branches to encourage fuller growth and make sure the soil drains well.

It needs more light. Lots more. A few hours of direct sunlight per day will fix this.

You’ll know it has enough when the leaf borders turn a beautiful red.
