  1. maybe the reason why it gets so bad in winter is because of too many leaves dropping in? causing Nitrogen spike with no active plant growth to use nutrients? maybe try at least one year of netting pond for major leaf drop period to see if that helps. I know its not ideal to look at but neither is the excessive algae either I guess

  2. Good Morning! ๐ŸŒž I have learned so much watching your Journey with your pond! Happy that Monica is just about back to normal! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŒฟ

  3. The pond looks great! You mentioned it takes at least 2 years for the pond to balance naturally. With the cleanout arent you resetting the time? Do you just plan on having it cleaned out every year instead of trying to fight the mess of all that algae?

  4. I had a small tear in my outdoor cushion that grew rapidly this winter, at first I wondered how on earth did it rip 6 more inches when nobody has been sitting on it and itโ€™s protected under my gazebo. Then I saw the bluejay going to town, taking the stuffing and ripping threads from the fabric ๐Ÿ˜† at least there is a cute reason for my destroyed cushion.

Side note, why are patio furniture cushions so expensive ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  5. OK, Laura, having had watched you for years, I am now not just imagining, but really seeing all of the layers, the โ€œroomsโ€ and the individual special places and unique areas that youโ€™ve developed on your whole property. For years, Iโ€™ve been leaving this same comment; that Aaron needs to do a drone tour of your whole property from the perspective of just walking through it on the paths. or one of you holding a camera and literally walking through it ASMR style. The more your garden matures, the more I do believe that we all would love that perspective. We all want to walk your garden and look at everything that we have all done together, even though youโ€™re the one doing the work ๐Ÿ˜… it does, in a sense, feel like our garden too, so having a fully immersive video like that for us would be amazing.

  6. Please remind me for the 1000th time: panicle hydrangeas grown on new wood and the other types ?โ€ฆ

  7. I have a 10 foot tall panicle hydrangea. Itโ€™s about 20 years old. It flops miserably every year. I was wondering if I could do a Chelsea chop to shorten the new growth before it blooms.

  8. At some point, could you show how to separate hellebores? I've got several that have gotten really big and as expensive as they are now. I'd like to split them up and spread them around. Thanks!

  9. So glad Monica is doing well.Good to see her.Akso glad to see th pond done too.Enjoyed as usual Let the games begin ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  10. Question: if you didnโ€™t have to keep variety in mind for your viewers would you do your cut backs based on type of plant? Example would you cut back all the hydrangeas one day and all the roses the next day? Or would you do it by areas of your garden, west side/north side ect? I am curious as to how you would organize the cut backs and maintenance if you didnโ€™t have to film it. I live all your videos and your whole family โค

  11. We had a very large pond in our field and we fought with for years. When we decided to just let it go it may have done best. Summer it was algae filled and a pretty green color with the grass ๐Ÿ™‚ and winter it was completely clear water.

  12. Looking good! If I may offer a suggestion, the fertilizers you use may be causing the algae blooms. I had a pond years ago and had the same problem. I started putting plants that thrive on neglect and the problem cleared right up. <3

  13. Fertilizers are a significant contributor to algae growth in ponds. When the Biotone, Lawntone, etc. are spread, you can see clouds of the fertilizer being carried by the wind. It's surprising how little it takes to create an issue like this.

  14. Good morning! The pond looks beautiful now. Where do you order new cushions from? I need a couple new one also!

  15. Iโ€™m impressed with all you got done here. A few things blooming and in another week, maybe two there will be explosions of blooms!
Iโ€™m excited because all the irises I got last year from Suttonโ€™s made it through the winter and are growing!

  16. So glad Monica is healing. I think that's a really good idea to get more clued up on your Koi because even what and how much you feed them can contribute to your weed problems, anything going in and out the water, adding stuff to upset the delicate balance, even the children if they've stood in chicken poo can add extra fertiliser, which can cause an explosion of nutrients, just the same as overfeeding your fish. Chicken poo now resolved. lol Your sunshine as you know, but then you have some trees to grow up, perhaps you could plant some tall annuals around for some extra shade. Carp are pretty hardy fish and being bottom feeders help clean up the bottom of the pond as well as keeping down from danger. hence why some people end up netting the pond, not pretty but to help save the fish. Hopefully the hawks that you've seen recently won't come looking and yes the big one are very expensive, but you have cameras around to deter anyone. It's great to see the babies and the adults grow, they are really pretty, they could outlive you. lol

  17. Whenever I see that string algae and all the work it takes, it reminds me I donโ€™t want a pond. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  18. Wow, trees super pick.
I'm thinking you should have a thick piece of Styrofoam and poke in the hydrangea flower, then spray with glitter / paint
    For outdoor winter pots.
    Or stores decor holidays.

  19. Busy day. The pond looks magnificent. The fish are loving it and growing a lot. That evergreen is perfect beside that boulder. The rose tree is a welcome sight since the other bit the dust. Iโ€™m sure you are so happy itโ€™s been replaced. Thanks for taking us along to enjoy the day with you. Oh yea, those Iris leaves are gorgeous. Iโ€™ve never seen any that color. Canโ€™t wait to see those bloom. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ปโค๏ธ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ™

  20. I was wondering if your pond could benefit from a couple of those beautiful sail shades to cut sun exposure and help with the algae overgrowth.

The sail shades are just like a boatโ€™s sails in shape and do look lovely. Iโ€™m not sure if you could find them big enough?

Until your trees grow high enough that is.

  21. Wow! Itโ€™s like a brand new pond. The koi look very happy and healthy. And congrats to Monica for getting out of the boot! โค

  22. ๐Ÿ˜ฎhow do you not have a Butterfly Koi? I have them and they are extremely beautiful. Also the beautiful. Also over feeding can cause algae growth.

  23. @ 30:52 when Laura's is talking about the pond gurus and the koi – did anyone notice over Laura's left shoulder the 'mountain lion' appearing in the background proudly walking past. ๐Ÿˆ
