I have been posting a question every day regarding different plant questions because I am very new to the plant world!

I have had these in their vases for about a month or two now. They are just now starting to show signs of roots but they are very tiny. I do change the water every week. The Ivy I have had for 2 months and its just now showing very small roots. The friend who gave it to me propagated some herself the same day and hers has grown long roots by now. I know many factors affect plants (light, humidity, yada yada), so I am not too worried but also is it normal for them to take a long time to grow roots?

LAST question – what is the plant in the small vase to the very right? I thrifted it at an Antique Mall and it had no information about it. Would love to know!

I would not change the water completly, only Top of with fresh water 🙂
Afaik there are something like enzymes that help build roots faster.

From your photo I am not able to ID the plant on the right. Don’t change the water unless it gets very murky, the plant is releasing root hormones into the water which will assist in root development. Some people use supplemental drops in the water to encourage quicker root formation, some plants just take longer than others, even if it’s different cuttings from the same plant. Having adequate light is definitely going provide the energy to help roots form. Having too many/too little leaves can affect the root growth because not enough leaves means not enough energy being created via photosynthesis, too many leaves means taking energy away from the plant to support foliage instead of being devoted to root growth. Usually around 3 leaves is ideal. Best of luck to you!
